Good Riddance Insect Repellent is a DEET-free, natural mozzie repellent that has been clinically proven to repel mosquitoes, midges and sandflies for hours.

All of the essential oils were chosen by an Australian cosmetic chemist for being safe to apply to babies and for their low irritancy profile. That means there is no DEET, Picaridin or Citronella. Safe for babies from 3 months of age.

The creamy difference

Our cream-based repellents are rich in shea butter and beeswax which provide more than just a luxurious, nourishing experience.

These allow the cream to encapsulate the essential oils for slow release over a number of hours.

This is why ours are effective for much longer than other natural repellents.

Better than 80% DEET! - The rich & nourishing cream creates a repellent that lasts longer on your skin and provides a physical barrier against midges and sandflies, which has been clinically proven to be more effective than 80% DEET! The cream also helps to hold the essential oils on the skin for longer than a spray, reducing the need for reapplication. The unique DEET and Citronella-free formula contains Lavender, Geranium & Sweet Vanilla.

Tested in the toughest Australian conditions

Good Riddance products were designed to work in the most mozzie prone regions of the Top End, from the mangrove creeks around Darwin, to the wetlands of Kakadu.

During independent lab trials, our repellents were proven to provide a high level of protection against the disease-spreading mosquitoes, including the notoriously difficult to repel Aedes aegypti species.

Our repellents were also proven to protect against biting midges (or sandflies) through independent field trials carried out in Bundaberg.

Good Riddance Sensitive is safe for use on babies over 3 months. It is also suitable for use on sensitive skin and during pregnancy.

Good Riddance Tropical Insect Repellent Ingredients

Purified Water

We use a reverse osmosis system to purify our water of all impurities and chemicals.

Sunflower Oil

Our cold pressed sunflower oil is grown in Australia and is naturally high in antioxidants. It’s a non-comedogenic lightweight oil known for its ability to deeply hydrate and protect the skin. Being nut-free it makes a great allergy-free base oil for our creams.

Organic Shea Butter

A rich and luscious organic butter that is super moisturising and conditioning for the skin. Shea butter also has anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

Organic Cocoa Butter

Renowned for its ability to deeply hydrate and soften the skin, creating a protective barrier that locks in moisture. Cocoa Butter helps to nourish the skin as it’s packed with essential fatty acids and antioxidants.

Jojoba Oil

A luxurious, cold-pressed oil that deeply hydrates the skin. It absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it feeling soft, smooth and non-greasy. 

Beeswax

Its ability to form a protective barrier helps lock in moisture while providing a soft, creamy, luxurious texture to our creams.

Natural Olive Emulsifying Wax

An all-natural derived from olive oil, 100% plant based emulsifier that blends oils and water. It is not ethoxylated and PEG-Free. It provides a deep moisturizing effect with excellent spreadability.  

Stearic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol

100% natural, vegetable derived fatty acid and fatty alcohol, used to stabilise and add body to our repellents. These ingredients make our creams easier to spread, conditioning and soft on the skin, without feeling greasy.

Organic Vegetable Glycerin

Glycerin is used for its skin conditioning and protection qualities. Its role as a humectant prevents the loss of moisture from the product, locking in moisture for your skin. 

Sclerotium Gum

A plant derived gum that is used to naturally thicken and stabilise the cream. It has natural skin smoothing and skin soothing properties.

Glyceryl Caprylate 

A natural plant-based emollient used to reduce the amount of preservatives required in our Sensitive cream as it helps inhibit antimicrobial activity. Also helps maintain the balance of moisture in the skin.

p-Anisic Acid

A naturally derived organic acid derived from the anise plant that acts as a natural preservative used to extend shelf life of our Sensitive repellent by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and fungi.

Natural Tocopherol

Natural Vitamin E with powerful antioxidant properties which boost the stability of our repellents. Protects skin, reduces inflammation and an excellent moisturiser.

Sodium Phytate

An all-natural chelating agent that acts to stabilise our repellents therefore offering you longer shelf life.

Vanillin

Sustainable plant-based vanillin which provides anti-microbial and antioxidant properties while providing an amazing scent to our repellents!

Good Riddance Sensitive proprietary blend

A proprietary blend of essential oils including our actives, Lavender and Palmorosa (from the same plant species as Citronella however safe for babies and sensitive skin), which provides a delicate, sweet floral scent to our Sensitive repellent. Many of our customers tell us that the scent of our Sensitive repellent brings back memories of musk sticks from their childhood!

About the Company

I spent 2 years trialing my formulas with local fishermen in the most mozzie and midge-prone areas of the Top End, including Kakadu. After 37 formulas, I finally perfected a natural repellent that really worked, was a pleasure to use, and was safe for our kids & the planet.

My husband Sean and I launched Good Riddance Insect Repellents at the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets in Darwin in 2014.

In 2018, our doors shut & we underwent 2 years of clinical trials to prove Good Riddance actually worked...

After 2 years of extensive clinical trials, both of our repellents passed the tests, confirming their efficacy, safety and shelf-life. This meant, Good Riddance Repellents were successfully registered as ‘insect repellent’ by the APVMA, Australia’s Regulator.

I am very proud to say that Good Riddance Insect Repellents stand up to any other DEET-filled repellents on the market.

The Good Riddance journey is interwoven with a deep commitment to preserving the environment and its inhabitants. In 2020 we joined forces with 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate 1% of all sales to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.
