Detox your way to health with the spa@home far infrared sauna!

Far Infrared is considered the most healing and beneficial part of the sun's energy. Conventional saunas operate at temperatures of 80-104˚C and must rely on direct heat, while a far infra red sauna operating at a much cooler 18-60˚C, is able to produce up to 3 times the sweat volume.

Studies have shown that the sweat of people using a conventional sauna was found to be 95-97% water while the sweat of those exposed to constantly emitted far infrared heat in the range of 4–20 microns was 80-85% water with the non-water component being cholesterol, fat soluble toxins, toxic heavy metals such as mercury & aluminium, sulphuric acid, sodium, ammonia and uric acid. This unusually high concentration of heavy metals & other fat soluble toxins is not found in the sweat produced from general exercise.

By far the most important health benefit of an effective far infra red sauna is it's efficiency in removing toxins from the body. This is achieved by a process called "resonate absorption" whereby the frequency of the far infra red waves matches the frequency of the water in the cell, causing toxins to be released into the blood stream and excreted through sweat. Increased blood circulation caused by sweating stimulates the sweat glands, releasing built up toxins and waste.

Why far infrared?
Infrared Saunas are rapidly gaining in popularity, and for good reason. The extensive list of benefits of infrared sauna therapy have attracted a great deal of interest in the medical community. In recent years, health care and wellness program specialists such as Chiropractors, Naturopaths, Massage Therapist, and Physiotherapists, and Retirement centre care-givers are implementing infrared saunas in their programs for their clients.

Features:

7 chromotherapy lights
Chromotherapy or colour therapy uses colours and light to balance and enhance our body’s energy. The spa@home far infrared sauna features 7 coloured lights for calming the mind, body and spirit.

Heater construction -

The spa@home far infrared sauna has 9 Carbon Fibre Heaters.

Here is a brief explanation of the two main types of sauna heaters .... The benefits between the two heaters are that the carbon fibre heaters heat the sauna at a slightly faster rate and provide an even distribution of infrared heat to the individuals in the sauna. Ceramic heaters provide the same benefits as carbon fibre, but are less expensive in price. Ceramic heaters add the benefit of 'spot' heating.

The Ceramic heater
This is the most commonly used heater element used in the sauna industry. There are several variations on this one design, generally ranging in quality of materials used, which directly affects the cost of the heaters. As the Ceramic Rod heater is round in shape, it emits Far Infrared from the 360 degrees of surface area of the heater. This provides a wide band of FIR dispersion, although in limited volumes.

Carbon Fibre heaters
Carbon Fibre heaters are increasingly being used in the industry, mainly due to the visual appearance of the heaters. They offer a softer heat output than other heater types which is preferred by some people. Like the ceramic rod heaters, they are available in varying qualities, all directly related to the cost of the unit. Carbon Fibre heaters emit Far Infrared in a straight line from the heater surface; hence the need to use large heaters on every surface area of the sauna cabin to ensure the occupant receives the benefits of Far Infrared.

Solid construction
Each spa@home far infrared sauna is built with the utmost care from quality, sustainable materials.

Available in two wood types - Hemlock & Red Cedar

Cedar vs. Hemlock

Most of today's saunas use either of two woods in their construction. There are other woods available, but the vast majority used is either Hemlock or Cedar. Besides the difference in price, there are several other key differences that are important to understand. Since the wood framing is such a huge part of the sauna, it should also be a huge part in any purchasing decision you make. Here are some quick overviews.

Hemlock is a softwood used by many sauna companies. It is an adequate insulator and is a non-toxic wood choice. The wood is lighter in colour and is generally odourless. In appearance it is similar to most of the saunas on the market. The wood itself has very straight wood grains.

Cedar has been used in saunas and steam baths for hundreds of years. It is renowned for its aromatic features as well as its ability to withstand climate changes and moisture. It is durable, non-toxic and an excellent heat insulator. In addition, it has microbial properties that are anti-fungal, as well as oils that aid in detoxification.

Benefits associated with regular use:

  • Improved skin tone... alleviates eczema, psoriasis & acne, improves skin tone and reduces scarring.

  • Detoxifying... release of toxins including heavy metals such as mercury, aluminium and lead.

  • Pain relief... for arthritis sufferers, joint stiffness and sports injuries.

  • Revitalising... energizing for the body while relaxing the mind and reducing stress & fatigue.

  • Weight Loss... one 30 minute session burns approximately 900 calories!

  • As part of a cholesterol management program… sweat it out!
