Vegetal™ Hair Colour

A range of true semi-permanent hair colours. These colours do not contain PPD or Peroxide and will wash out in 6 to 8 washes.

Vegetal Colour is a semi-permanent product designed to gently colour your hair with deep conditioning properties that can be used to add highlights and colour tones to your natural hair colour.

Vegetal colour has no ammonia or peroxide, and it gives vibrant results. It is a semi-permanent product, available in 13 colours, and lasts for several washes. The Henna Red shade of Vegetal Colour is a very popular choice, as it gives a gorgeous henna-like colour - despite not containing any henna. Each Vegetal pack allows up to 2 applications, depending on hair length.

Vegetal (semi permanent colour) is intended for highlighting the natural colour. Vegetal does not lighten the hair, nor is it intended to cover grey. It washes out after approximately 6 shampoos. To obtain highlights, choose a colour in the Golden, Copper or Mahogany series that is lighter than your natural colour. To obtain a deeper colour, choose one shade darker than your natural colour. You can also simply choose the same shade as your natural colour.

Vegetal should not be used on previously tinted hair. It is intended to colour natural hair only.

Herbatint

Herbavita colours are available in both temporary and permanent shades. Herbatint, the permanent colouring, will stay in your hair until you choose to let it grow out. Herbatint is ideal for covering grey hair, and the wide variety of colours means you will certainly find your natural shade amongst our range.

Herbatint is the leading product and is the most natural permanent hair colour existing on the market today. The new range of Herbatint colours now being introduced all come with added aloe vera and no ammonia, resorcinol or paraben - and still only 3% peroxide. The herbal based formula comes in 30 exciting colours, including the 6 Flash fashion colours. Herbatint mixes into a gel and is applied to regrowth with a brush. For people with short hair, it allows two applications. It has no smell.

Shampoos

• Normalising - This natural, herbal based shampoo brings out the highlights of hair and helps stabilise the colour of dyed hair. Rich in mallow extracts to cleanse gently, Normalising Shampoo is best used at the time of colouring.
• Luminous - Specially formulated to revive colour treated hair, adding brilliance and volume. A vegetable-based shampoo that utilises rhubarb extracts and flower essence to give softness and beautiful highlights.
• Nettle and Burdock - Herbal extracts provide thorough and gentle cleansing while maintaining the hair's proper pH balance. Highly recommended for thinning hair.
• Chamomile - A concentrated solution of herbal distillates and chamomile extracts that helps alleviate dryness and revive the lustre and body of blonde and light-coloured hair.
• Super Shampoo - Gives your hair body, volume and softness.
• Dandruff Shampoo - is a herbal extracts-based product derived from the distillation of plants, and has a high dandruff control power.

Conditioners

• Royal Cream - is an especially rich natural conditioner created for hair that has been coloured or permed. Royal Cream restructures, strengthens and moisturises hair and should always be used immediately after colour treating your hair, and whenever colour-treated hair is washed. Royal Cream is one of the top sellers, as it gives such a shine to the hair after use.
• Rosemary Herbal Oil - A restructuring oil treatment with herbal and plant protein extracts. Helps reconstitute the hair shaft, restoring strength, volume and shine. Recommended for brittle, thin and treated hair.

The Birth of Permanent Hair Colour
In 1907 French pharmacist , Eugene Schueller, devised a formula for creating the first (or at least first recognised) permanent hair dyes using chemical ingredients.
Working from his Paris home, Schueller adapted the principles and chemical ingredients utilised in the production of fabric dyes for use on human hair. Schueller’s first efforts resulted in a limited range of dark, golden and red shades on natural bases, but the effect on the hair industry was revolutionary. This small home pharmacy became the centre of authority on hair cosmetics. From Schueller’s work, the entire hair dye industry was born. Eugene Schueller called his permanent hair colour manufacturing company L’Oreal.

Using chemicals which delivered colour pigmentation identical to human hair, Eugene Schueller and other pioneering cosmetic experts were able to duplicate the primary molecules, creating large black and brown and smaller red and yellow pigments. Further experiments revealed that the chemicals, when mixed with peroxide and ammonia become permanently locked into the hair shaft. The chemicals were called ‘oxidation dyes’ because their reaction to oxygen (via the peroxide) is vital to the ability to permanently alter hair colour. Oxidation dyes became the first fully permanent method of dying hair. Previously ‘Direct Dyes’ (such as plants and industrial chemicals used to colour fabrics) offered only a temporary colour alteration.

How Permanent Hair Colours Work
Based on the principle that peroxide enters the hair and tries to attach itself to molecules in order to revert to water, it was discovered that when low strength peroxide is mixed with colour molecule chemicals the solution enters the hair, but once inside the cortex the peroxide not only tries to attach to the hairs' natural pigment but also the artificial pigment. These artificial pigments swell and link to one another (due to the peroxide attaching and creating a link between them) and become trapped inside the hair – permanently.
